East Branch of the Fox River by Ken Jacobsen, Overall Winner of the 2023 Photo Contest

MNA is excited to announce the kick-off of our 14th Annual Photo Contest! Since 2011, professional and hobbyist photographers have been invited to submit their best images of nature from all around the state of Michigan. Over the years, we have seen several hundred entries received from dozens of photographers and nature enthusiasts that highlight the beauty of our incredible state. These photos help us tell the story of why protecting Michigan's natural heritage is so critical.

This year's categories for entry are:

  • Landscapes
  • Flora & Fauna
  • People in Nature

Photos may have been taken anywhere within the state of Michigan and should highlight natural beauty in some way. As always, MNA will give extra consideration for photos taken at its sanctuaries, taking into account the subject matter, composition, and location of each photo during judging. The top three photos from each category, as well as one overall winner, will be featured in Michigan Nature Magazine, and on the MNA website. Winners will receive a complimentary 1-year membership to the Michigan Nature Association, and a framed print of their winning photo.

All photos must be:

  • taken in the state of Michigan
  • in one of the three categories listed above
  • submitted with a filled-out entry form
  • submitted as a jpg or png file (photo quality of 300 dpi is highly preferred)
  • received no later than September 1, 2024.
