Hudspeth Memorial

15 acres in Livingston County

Located near Brighton, Hudspeth Memorial is a class C sanctuary. This means that the sanctuary can only be visited with the assistance of an MNA guide. The most unique part of the preserve is a half-acre, quicksand filled bog which is spring fed. It is surrounded by tamaracks and an abundance of poison sumac. The sanctuary also contains rich spring flora on steep hillsides. Upland there are bird's foot violet and alum root, and a crystal clear creek winds through the sanctuay.

Guided visits can be arranged by calling the office at 517-655-5655.
